Coolant pipe block off kit, you can get it a Fred Beans. I've heard you can cut the ribs off the underside of the LS-6 intake and make it work without the kit. Shouldn't set any codes if all the vacumn hoses and electrical connections our reconnected correctly. You can reuse your intake gaskets if you want.

Do not take the cooling lines off for they also help to purge air out. you can grind the little ridge lines down on bottom of intake and it will fit while leaving cooling lines on.
While intake is off you might make use of it off by replacing the knock sensors, their short wiring harness and to prevent water filling up the recess and shorting sensors out they sit in valley pan by building a silicon dam around the holes.
If this is a used intake your buying closely check the port gaskets and if you suspect them replace them but they are not cheap in cost.

Also might consider switching to a 2001 and newer valley pan and use the newer PCV design

part number for knock sensors? what is the advanatage of upgradiing the vally cover?

Also is it my understanding that it's a bad idea to block off the cooling lines? if so... then is there a way to convert to the 2001 cooling system? I don't like the idea of hot cooling lines under my intake manifold.... just like i dont' like htem in my TB.

Not sure why you need to replace knock sensors, if thats the case do you replace the oil pressure sensor also? Where do you draw the line, I agree with the silicone dam. I haven't heard of anyone having issues using the coolant pipe block off kit. You can get intake gaskets through FAST cheaper than GM, I would run a catch can before changing the valley pan. Yes it is all JMO.
