Default G5x3 Cam???

I got the G5X3 on 114 cam and Ive notice that people say its a mild cam. I thought it was a pretty big one. I know it puts some power down on the ZO6's but what will it do to a C5 with LT and exhaust? Also I am wondering, I want some bad power. I dont drive it everyday, but I do drive it and I drive it to the track. I want a WILD cam that will make a good sound and a lot of power without having to cut my pistons or doing any other major mod to my engine. Thanks for all the info and help!

That cam is in no way small or mild! It will make good power mostly in the upper rpm range. You will have to flycut your pistons if your heads are milled, but not if you dont mill them. HTH

The G5X3 is a pretty big cam......the problem is the 114 lsa. The idle sounds meaner with more lope on a 112 lsa (the cam I have), and you get more low to mid range torque. If you are not doing heads, you can go with LG's G5X4 cam on a 112 lsa and really have the sound and power you are looking for. Remember, if you do the 112 lsa, you will need to flycut the pistons if you do the heads. Hope this helps.

G5X3 is not a small or mild cam on a stock disp. C5, it's one of the big cams out there.

I'm running a TSP MS3, with their Stg 1 243 heads unmilled on my Z06. Did not need to flycut.

Here are some clips if you're interested,

Initial startup after install, untuned.

Tuned, and back to Stock TI exhaust

A quick run

My 01 with the A4 3.73 gear and a 3600 stall t/c is putting 391 to the wheels. That's all the bolt-on's with the G5X3 114 lsa Cam Only Stock untouched factory LS1 heads. This is NOT a mild cam!!

Thanks for posting the clips. I've been interested in the same setup you have and wondered how it would sound.

Yup, that cam sounds pretty mean at idle.

Thanks everyone for posting and clearing somethings. I agree with some of ya'll that the 112 lsa is a awesome sound, but not sure what the term fly cutting the pistons is. Im still learning the internal parts of motors. But Im just wanting to put the cam in and start it up with out having to take the motor apart. That will be another project in the future. Thank You Ya'll again!!

If you have stock heads that arent milled then you dont need to wory about fly-cutting, Ive got an X3 on a 112 and i really love it. Just dont forget to get a Comp Cams 921 spring kit and some chromolly pushrods while you're at it.
