Tact is correct when he says that the rear needs to be slightly higher than the front. the oil drain plug is located in the front of the oil pan and by raising the rear slightly helps assure full drainage of oil. I let mine drain for about an hour just to make sure.
So say a Corvette Forum member was performing his first C5 Corvette oil change and wanted to make sure that he fully drained out the old used oil.
Besides lifting the back end higher than the front, how many quarts of Mobil 1 oil would you pour through the engine with the oil drain plug removed, until you could safely say that all the old oil is flushed out of the oil pan?

May sound cheap but at $6 a qrt I wouldn't pour any straight through it. I would just let it drain completely out then pour the new oil in which in my case would be AMSOIL.
