The $5 Solution......

I've seen ads in this forum and similar "diy" projects on other forums to eliminate water/dust collection at the rear lights. In all the solutions, it involved getting weather stripping for a door and it cost between $15 and $25, either at Lowe's or from a certain few aftermarket parts suppliers.
I decided to go the "Lowe's route" and do it myself. When I got to Lowe's, they didn't have the specified weather stripping I saw in another site's tech forum, so I looked at what else they had and this is what I found:
Frost King X-Treme Rubber Weatherseal
It wasn't the exact size or brand of the other site's "recommended" weather stripping, but it was close enough, so I tried it and I'm very happy with the results.
This particular stripping is 3/8" wide x 1/4" thick and the package contains 17' of stripping (enough to do two cars or make many mistakes
) It is a "D" profile, not the "recommended" teardrop profile, which I think makes a tighter fit. It has self stick tape and I suggest you applying the strip with one edge aligned to where the (black) lamp housing assembly meets with the (red) lamp cover. The strip itself is a grey colored roll that is 8 1/2' long, that is actually two strips in parallel. All you have to do is tear the two strips apart from one another...... The part number on the box is: V25G
The results look like it was meant to be done that way..... If you decide to do this quick mod, good luck. It'll be the best $5 you ever spent on your Vette.

You can barely see the grey weatherstripping around the edges. The widest gap to fill is along the bottom of the light..... Exactly the same place the water/dirt flies out of and collects at.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

That would be more of a reason to post it. To hell with the Corvette tax.
it's like paying $50k for a supercharger setup.
Only a small hole is needed. After you wash the car, the water just drains away!!! Did it to my car and have never had streaking/dust problems since.
Mine have been on about 3 months...

That said, if I can save myself (or a fellow Vette owner) a few bucks, you better believe it, that I'll share the info with all you fine folks!
