I have a 98 Convertible that has suddenly lost the AC. When you push the AC button, it flashes several times and then goes off. I went as far as disconnecting the battery cable to make sure there wasn't a simple computer glitch. That didn't work. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
I just had to recharge my system 2 weeks ago and it's been fine for now. The ac light wasn't blinking though. But you could tell that the unit wasn't kicking on. I went to a local parts store and got a recharge can, for 30 $ and it's cold for now. Hopefully it stays. You may want to try the recharge, it's only 20-30 bucks.
According to the manual the flashing means low charge of R134a...
the quick fix is to buy a can and top it off... but the right thing to do is take it into a shop that does A/C work and find out what the problem is.
A reputable shop should evacuate the system, ( giving you full credit for the 134a that they recover, check and fix any leaks and then re fill adding a fluourescent dye making it easier to see if there are any other leaks now or in the future...
See page 10 and 11 on elec sticky above. I did have dryer replaced and system showed full 134 refrig. no leaks. Low pressure sensor worked for me.Good luck with it.
