Went to start the car up to go home from work and the dashboard lit up like a xmas tree. Got a shocks inoperative, Tire Mon system, reduced engine power, etc, etc, etc and a 1/2 million other codes.
I restarted the car and all the codes went to history and I drove home no problem.
I still have the original battery in the car. Should I just go to the store and buy a new battery now or should I get the car into the air check grounds? Also, if I change out the battery, what do I need to do to get the car rolling again.
There is also option 2.. The car is going to the Vette Doctors monday for a H/C package should I have them check the battery and grounds while doing the work???
For the record the car is a 2003 1SC A4 convertible
EDIT: It is a glass mat battery and I didn't see anything on the terminals to indicate a PCM issue that the older batteries had.
EDIT2: Lots of loss of contact w/PCM codes, but these two were of note:

Chris I would give Carmen a call and see if he wants to see what the cause might be. He may very well suggest running past the dealership before your mods are performed. Either way good luck with both this issue, and your prescription for speed. Bob
I would agree with door harness wires. It took the dealer several months but they finally found the harness on the passenger side was the problem and not on the driver's side as suggested in the technical bulletin. It took all of 20 minutes to fix the problem once found. Good luck.
Is this a rubbing harness or a corrosion filled connector issue or what? Never heard of this one, but it sounds like this could be one of the couple problems I have so do tell.
Yeah let Vette docs look at it, they honor GM warranty repair anyway.
I don't have a warranty on the car anymore...
Though I might end up fighting w/GM on it to see if I can get any costs back. I had the car in for electrical problems a couple of weeks ago -- my memory seat issue (while still in warranty) and it has never been fixed to my satisfaction. I am just tired of dealing with the idiots and when I talked to another dealer, they won't handle the work under warranty..I would have to fight it out with the other dealer and I just don't want to.
The car has already been in to them twice, I have no confidence that they will get it right this time.
Chaase This exact thing happened to me 2 years ago when i bought my 2001 Z06 from Dobler turned out to be the battery, it was original battery so my suggestion is go with a new battery
