New Tires---Need Advice Please
I'm trying to assist a friend who needs new tires for her 2003 convertible 6-speed. We think we've narrowed the choices down to either the Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP RFT or the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP. (Cost is a factor and both of these choices are considerably less expensive than the OEM Goodyear's) Does anyone have these particular tires? Pros/cons/comments on both tires would be very much appreciated.
Her driving style is a little spirited at times but mostly freeway driving. (Southern California) A little extra wet traction wouldn't hurt either.

Out of those two choices I'd pick the Michelin's! I've run Michelin's on other vehicles and never had a problem.
I'd typically recommend the Pilot sports, but if you're looking for additional wet traction, I'd be uncertain...you might even lose some there...you can read reviews of both at supporting vendor www.tirerack.com
Take a look at the NEW goodyear eagle F1 D-3 runflat. Yes that is correct they now also come in run-flat. This tire is awesome in the rain and they are probably cheaper than the other tires you are looking at. I have the non run-flat version of these on my car now and I like them alot. Go to tirerack.com.

If these have the same tread pattern as the non-runflats, they are bound to be excellent tires!

Seems like Tirerack only lists the OEM Goodyear EMT's. No mention of the F1-D3.

I have to agree on the Goodyear F1 GS-D3s. I'm not a tire expert but I know Car and Driver rated these #1 against 10 other tires including the Michelin PS2's.
Call Tirerack, I ordered 4 for a Z06 last week by phone because they didn't list them on their website.

what i wanted was a tire that lasted , good traction in rain, W-speed rated(better then Z), utog (wear rating)rating over 400, all-season tire, and above price:
the feed back was good and i have installed them now, balancing was less then 1/2 oz /tires. they are quiet anf seem to perform well, in all road conditions

You've decided to use run flats on your Z06?
Please keep me posted on these tires once you mount them and run them for a while. I'll be due for tires on my Z soon and would consider these if they work close to the F1 SC's.

No, these are the non run flats that they just released in OEM sizes for the z06.
I was just trying to let you know that if you don't see the tires you are looking for on the tirerack website then give them a call, they may have them in stock but not listed yet.
I am overseas for a couple more months so I won't get a chance to run them for awhile still.

I would have gotten them for my Z but I couldn't find sizes that fit, so I went with PilotSport II's.
Maybe I'm just dense! I checked that Tire Rack link that your provided (thank you) but no where does it say that these tires are run flats. A previous poster (corvette Mark) indicated that they "now" come in EMT design but I can't seem to find that info. So...my question is...is this tire, the F1 GS-D3 available in both, non run-flat AND run flat?
Just put on the michelin's ZP's, and WOW.... night/day difference from the goodyear's!! quieter ride, they don't follow every groove in the road, imho they look better , ride better, etc...
