Default Jacking Question:

Stupid is as Stupid does, will I be safe with a 1.5 ton jack just lifting to put stands under the vette or should I go with a 2-3 ton jack?

I would go with a 3 ton Sears, I have one if you need to borrow it.

The whole car only weighs about 3200 lb. You'll be fine.

If you are jacking the whole front end via the cross member, you will be al the limit of your jacking power....
A larger capacity jack would be safer....
