Can anyone point me in a direction for troubleshooting this code.
Can is for roadrace usage only. 98 with FE1 RTD.
There is no ABS module installed. is there a connection between shock and ABS?.
Just haven't been abke to get manuals yet but have read through the forum as you guys are great at the info.
thks.
Is it limiting you to 80mph also?? Mine did that, I put resistors in the connectors to the shocks (since originals were replaced with coilovers) and that got rid of it
You make that sound easy?
As I have our first race this weekend is it that easy?
I have a few spare shocks so perhaps one should try pluging another in.
I have checked the sensors from the a arms but without values to go on not much to check. they all had the same res values though.
I didn't check the shocks for vaules.
As the donor car was hit perhaps the impact broke one inside?
Thks for any other help.
For me it was that easy...your situation sounds a little more complicated though so I'm not so sure if I can help. You should be able to find the correct resistor values by searching thru the forum. I believe it was around 15 ohms.
Missed the 80 MPH part.
I really don't know as this is a first session on a transplant from the 98 wreck to a 97 straight frame coupe.
The DIC comes up with the 80 mph message so I would assume it will limit it. Hiw does it do that ? cut's back fuel or closes the electric throttle?
At this point due to time and a learning curve, I have left all components stock, with that one exception of removing the ABS module. I had hope of a smoother start up instead of try to inroduce to much to fast.
It either cuts fuel or spark...not sure which but it stops you quick if you hit 80mph... I had to drive from Illinois to North Carolina like that...
Ah, wish I could see what you are working with to be of more help...easiest solution (if you have time and a tuner) is for them to just disable that option. Hope you get it worked out.
To new to this whole forum thing to post any pic's.
You gave me a great start this am with the resistor idea.
In my hast I hadn't checked each shock for any values at all like I had on the sensors.
Your quick response pointed me there and I was able to check the rears before I had to go to work.
Both rears were at 12.5 ohms at the shock so I'll check the front tonight.
As far as a tuner goes, do you mean someone or one of the handheld tuners.
I have been holding off getting one until I understood the systems a bit more.
As I understand it now, the eary 97, 98's are not that friendly and some makers don't have a hand held for them.
Any thoughts?
I'm guessing it's the F45, not the FE1, as I believe those are the magnetic shocks which weren't available until somewhere around 04 or so. If that is the case, I would recommend putting resistors in the plugs, ripping the F45 shocks out and putting in some Bilstein sports or something along those lines. I had the F45 option on my 97 and compared to my 98 with base suspension and Bilsteins there is no comparison.
FIXED IT.
Just like some of the threads say "CHECK for GROUNDS".
I was able to get my hands on a GM service manual and it doesn't ground on the driver side by the module, heck that would be the first place a guy would check since it's right there on the same harness. Nope they had to grd it on the pass side rear (G402).
Thks all for the help. now we can make our first race weekend.
Cheers
