Yahoo, I just installed by COH CLB today myself, which is a major accomplishment for me! Got it done in under an hour without help from my son who is fearless with automotive stuff but was out playing tennis. These instructions were da best and really made it possible for me to do the job myself:
http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=24.
The pics and the narrative step by step instructions were great.

It feels good to know I won't get stuck somewhere due to the column lock problem.

My son did help me do the CAGS bypass a few days ago, so I feel very happy about these two fixes to the 02 coupe I got just this Feb.

Thanks to the CF family for all the help in making the fixes easy and painless. Hey, I did not have to use a single curse today! Jon

OMG I'm soooo torn...new to the forum btw...hello all

I have a 98 6 Speed.

I called the local dealer here in Westchester County NY and am going in to have them "look" at my car to make sure it requires the CL recall/update...I verified with GM that it does so I wanted to have the dealer order the parts so I wasted no time..time is $$$ BUT they REFUSED to do so....the insisted they need to look at it first.

Im going to play their game today..go in at 8am NY time..have them look and then order any parts...BUT...I'm nervous...should I just buy the CLB or is there more value to having the lock plate removed by the dealer??

I read where some 97 and 98's have a slight issue with the aftermarket CLB.

Torn...confused and um

OK so they did it...recall 04006C was performed on my vehicle today...I asked that they do not flash the PCM...they refused to comply and said they could not do the procedure without the reflash...lets hope all goes well.....time will tell...

I installed my CLB yesterday thanks to Corvette Forum this job was very easy. Now I feel safe when I take the White Horse out of the stall.

I would like to know where you guys recommend buying the CLB? I've had the recall done but am considering the CLB.

We keep hearing about dealers insisting they need to reflash the PCM, but the 04006C Recall does not require a reflash for U.S. cars (only Canadian/Export cars). I would be useful to see if they could point to the procedure where it requires them to reflash - since there is no such place in the recall.

Don't get worried about the flash, but it's just not needed. See for yourself:

Best $ I've spent on the car(along with the CAGS eliminator)
