Default Outside temp reads -38

Seems that the outside temp reading on my C5 is going crazy. It starts off stuck at 69 degrees after starting and at some point drops to –38. This keeps the air conditioner from operating. I replaced the temp sensor in the intake system but that didn’t fix it. Any ideas?

You replaced the wrong sensor, the one in airbridge is for intake temps.
Outside sensor is low and to the right side of radiator which you can see in the area below right headlight it mounts to the right bottom of shroud.
- 38 means no connection so if its not the sensor it maybe its wiring connector or pinched wire to it

My sensor was ripped off by something. It read 69. When the plug with the rusty what was left of the wire got wet, it would read real low and finally back to 69. New sensor is only like $11 . The Plug on the wiring side is 3 times more!!!

thank you... I got lost looking in the service manuals and didn't even notice there was the other sensor.
