Default Painting Engine covers - questions

I am taking my car this weekend to have a quote done on painting the rail covers, fuse box cover, etc. What kind of paint should be used/did you use? Can anyone post a picture of their engines? I am looking for some ideas... Don't know if I want a custom job, or just go with one color... Anyone do a multicolor job?

By the way, I know I can do this myself, but my cousin has been an autobody painter for the past 25 years. When I asked him to do this process, he just asked what kind of paint did anyone use, as well as any special process that he should know about. I am sure he would figure it out, but I am greatful that he wants some research done before he tackles the job. Thanks.

I used regular auto paint (spray from can) and some primer added after adhesion promotor. 2 coats of clear after the final coat.

I used GM paint I got at the dealer in spray. Get the base color coat and the clear coat. I used a plastic preparer then shot 3 coats of primer before applying base coat.

SpeedRacer/01c5z06,
Where are you getting the "adhesion promoter" or "plastic prep"?
How did you do the letters and stripes?
