In case you didnt know it the fuel filter and regulator are one unit. It is a cylinder shaped unit that sits inside the body just in front of the driver side rear wheel. You have to jack up the car to see it. The filter has two lines going into it one going forward to the engine and is bolted with a harness to the frame and is grounded with a neat looking SS line.
When you go to remove this filter you have to squeeze the clips on the 2 lines coming in to release the lines from the filter. Then you have to take off the little bolt that holds the unit in place. Then you need a little tool to remove the large single fuel line that runs to the engine. All this should take about 20 min total.
Let me tell you why I am talking about this... I broke the main line to the engine today because I didnt have the little tool that I needed to remove it... I have to buy a new line and I dont know if or when it is available or how much work it is to install it... I will find out tomorrow.
I truly hope you all remember this and dont make the same mistake I did today. :(

Sorry to hear that - I always hate when you become an expert due to these sort of incidents. I have done my share of booboos!

The directions also mention no tool and simply says to disconnect the so called quick disconnects. :(

Thanks for the information. Sorry to hear about your problem with the filter change. I hope it will be an easy fix. :chevy
I had mine done by the dealer recently. The fuel filter was $54.00 + labor of course, wow I thought this was high. I guess if it a dual function device/filter as you described the price makes a little more sense.

Thank You to everyone that replied.
I called the dealership today and let them know that I will be dropping off the car on Sunday night for repairs on Monday. I know they will fix it right (with new lines installed) and do all the service bulletins that are outstanding on the car.
