Default best mods for heat reduction CC?

Hey everyone - I just installed my ipod2car interface and ran the cables to the console, but knowing the considerable amount of heat in the console, I wanted to put in something to reduce it beofre it fries my ipod! Wanted to know from the forum experience, what is the best way to go - one of these insulation kits, the elite tunnel plate, or a combo of both. Would the plate reduce the heat quite a bit or am I better off w/the insulation? I'd like to put in the insulation, but would settle for not pulling apart my entire interior if the plate would work.

Thanks!

Default Insulation

I put the C6 Z06 aluminum tunnel plate on my car($60 from Beans). I sprayed it with silver hi-heat paint to reflect the heat, put in Crazy Cowboy's(forum vendor) insulation kit, and also insulated the bottom of the console. No heat problems now. You might get away with just the plate and insulating the bottom of the console if you are not inclined to do the whole interior.

I insulated my entire Z06 with Frost King!! Made a significant reduction in the heat from the tunnel. You can also get some reflectX (foil covered bubble wrap and install that over the Frost King in the areas of the tunnel that get th hottest! I dont have any heat issues! The road noise from the tires is also less!

My entire interior is heat insulated with Frost King in most areas and with Reflectix in the tunnel/center console area. You can see the insulation showing in the pic below. I also have the Elite tunnel plate and coated headers. All these factors make for low heat emissions in the interior, including the center console.

Elite Engineering Abs of Steel...ceramic coated works great for me in reducing center console heat.

1/4 in aluminum tunnel plate and the Crazy Cowboy's insulation kit pretty much ended my heat problems.
