Last night after leaving a friends house, I unlocked my car with the FOB and drove home normally, I pulled in my driveway and closed the door and attempted to lock the car with the FOB. I got nothing. I tried several times for several minutes and got nothing.
Now this morning, I figured it may remedy itself being that I was pretty tired after my treck home. I go out to the car and attempt to unlock it, still nothing, so I use the key, which I cant say I've ever done before... I get in and put the key in the ignition and my seat did not return to the memory position(it did however, do so when I left my friends house the night before).
Are these problems related? I wouldnt assume it's any kind of fuse issue being that the memory function still operates normally when I push the button. I just doesnt work with the easy entry feature anymore.
Update: I tried some of the ideas in threads I searched for and an held both buttons down outside the car and got the horn to chirp. The remoted worked for a few seconds, then stops again. I reset it again by holding both buttons and it did the same thing. It works for a few clicks, then stops working again. Also, I noticed it was unlocking twice sometimes when I would press it with in that few second time period and also locking twice sometimes.
Have you tried a new FOB battery, or the other FOB (assuming you have two). I went through the same thing on my 2000. The 1st FOB was bad, some solder on the board had cracked, and it was draining the FOB battery. So I ended up using the 2nd FOB until I could get another one.
I'm disappointed in the range of my original fobs that will not work when I'm standing on the passenger side. This is with a new battery. You would think that GM's premier sports/luxury car would be better in all respects when compared to Ford or Dodge minivans that I've rented whose fobs worked at 30-40 feet! One time I had to re-train the fobs while sitting in the driver's seat. In order to do this, I had to hold the fob by my left ear as I pressed the appropriate buttons.
Sometimes my FOB works and other times it just plain does not work. I had a new battery installed and the inside of the FOB cleaned out. The problem is erratic. You would think that for a $50+ car, at least the FOB would work.
My remote does work at 100 feet away.... But as has been said.. you really need to check the spring tabs, bend them so the make really good connection with the battery. As it is DC it needs to be tight, and a bad connection explains the re-programing needed. My bet... they are bent and only sort of touch...
Well, I had a bit of luck, I went back to the dealership that I bought the car from 2 months ago and I told them my problem. They had another 2000 coupe there and they let me use the fob and train it to my car, works flawlessly from 30+ feet away. They insisted I keep that one and they would also order me another one in exchange for my malfunctioning FOB. So I'm a happy camper, never had luck like that with a used car dealership, lol.
