Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for a while, finally bought a 2001 Coupe a week ago. GREAT CAR! Even though this car had the benefit of a Car Max inspection, and the DIC says 81% oil life remaining, for peace of mind I'd like to change the fluids. It only has 12,000 miles, but I'm thinking I should:
- change the oil and filter
- flush the coolant
- bleed the brake fluid
My question is - are these changes overkill for these cars? The engine seems so understressed compared to the high winding engines I'm used to, I wonder if this is necessary. TIA gm
I bought my zo6 with 12K on it, I have changed every fluid in the car, some of them 2 and 3 times, trans and rear, for the cost of fluids, and most of them better than Gm used. I think it cost about 100, bucks tops.. on the rear you need the Gm additive, other than that everthing is out of parts stores, and mostly walmart they have better prices, most of the fluids are just drain and refill the correct level, I added magnetic plugs on the trans, rear, and engine... dont go in for that Gm fluids they rip you off for the same quality you get off the shelf. And when its raining you have something to do, good luck with your new car!, Bee
