I am swapping out the 2.73 differential for a 3.42. I just drained the gear oil out of the old diff. and realized I don’t know were to add to oil back when I get the new one in. How do you add oil when the drivetrain is completely installed?

I am assuming that you have an automatic transmission, so don't forget that you will have to have your shift points reset.
You will need to have the PCM programmed to for the 3.42 rato as well or you will get a P1870 (transmission component slipping) code, which will cause the PCM to max the line pressure causing jarring shifts and prevent torque converter lockup.
You can avoid the code by not using the D/OD gear position unless you are going over 60 mph until you get it programmed out
The fill plug should be visable from the rear of the diff, to the right of the cover just below midline. The fill plug also has the gear ratio ID tag with it. The drain plug is on the bottom
