I'm a newbie (4 months, '99 FRC) and my wife and I are taking our first weekend Corvette trip soon. I will be parking the car outside of a friends house overnight and of course I'm paranoid about it. Has anyone ever parked their car, and for extra caution, pull a couple fuses (or relays) from the battery compartment fuse block so the car won't start (even if someone has a key)? I know the Corvette has a fairly sophisticated security system, but when I park it outside in a strange environment, I'd like to take a little extra precaution. Don't mind taking a couple of minutes to snap in a couple of fuses in the morning before I'm on my way. I don't want to disconnect the battery or affect any of the on board systems. Couldn't find anything using Search function. Thinking Fuse # 13 - Fuel Pump or Fuse #19 - Engine Ignition ought to do it. Experienced suggestions?
I don't think pulling a fuse would hurt anything and might actually help deter someone with a key. Cover your VIN on the dash with something so it's not visable from outside the car. A "dealer" can make a key just from the VIN. Can't deter a flatbed or a tow truck though. Don't get paranoid, that's what insurance is for.Chuck.
Pulling the fuse on the fuel pump will likely do it. Anybody who breaks in and wants to drive away isn't going to want to troubleshoot it. He will crank it a bit and when it doesn't start he will be gone.
You will likely have to contend with some damage (like a broken window), but you will still have your car in the morning.
You can pull ING1 and ING 2 fuses . I had two Kids who I taught early in life, how to repair cars. So,,,I was always afraid that they would figure out the fuse thing. I use to disconnect the electrical plug from the throttle motor and hide the end, so that if they did figure out the fuse problem, they weren't going any where very fast!!!
Thanks to all, Don't think I didn't consider sleeping in the car, but felt that was too paranoid. Going to New Jersey, hope to have a ball. First road trip with my somewhat skeptical and reluctant wife "You mean we are not taking the mini van?" and "Gas is expensive, what's the mileage going to be ?" (I told her 33 probably, better than the mini van, but of course she reminded me it's Premium). Don't think I have a corvette enthusiast here. Took her to Carlisle a long time ago, Her reaction "It was OK, but it was about only one kind of car". Hope to convert her this weekend. All have a good weekend.

Coming to Jersey????
..and your main attraction is going to be a trip to ECS, right???
Nope, Jersey Shore (North Wildwood) for a friend's son's college graduation party. A lot of old friends getting together. Can't wait for a road trip and good times. Polished the FRC tonight. My wife, on the other hand is not looking forward to 3 1/2 hours in the Corvette. Time to win her over, it's our first trip in the corvette.

They might have a laptop with them and get on the forum to get Bill Curlee to help them troubleshoot the problem.
