Has anyone ever had the passenger window not work and then the next day it starts working just fine again? This is very frustrating, when the window will not go down and I get ready to take it to the dealer for warranty work the next morning and I check it and it goes down!
Anyone ever had this and if so have you figured out what is causing this?
Very common problem. Usually caused by a window regulator about the crap out. If/when it happens again. Just take the door; Hold the window button in the down position and then SLAM the door closed. That Usually gets it working again. The only true fix is to replace the window regulator once it completely craps out.
I just went through this yesterday. I removed the door panelhttp://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...or_handle.html Once it was off and away from the car, with the key on and door semi closed with me sitting in the passenger seat holding the window button down, I hit the lower right stud that holds the window motor. The motor immediately ran and rolled the window down. It would then cycle up and down with no problem. I knew this was not a permanent fix because I've used the door slam method so many times, until it had quit for good 6 months ago. I ended up adjusting the window stops up 3 rounds clockwise each. You'll need a #6 torx socket.

i completely agree, i had to replace regulator as well. They are around 250 at the dealership and can be installed in about 30 mine and come adjusted very close but need to be tweeked a lil for a perfect fit.but if you are like me slamming can create rattles lol!!
If the window still works some of the time, the cable system is probably still ok.
I have seen the windows fail from the cables getting twisted up on the motor spool, and also from the motor failing.
We fixed a friend's drivers window recently by changing out the whole regulator assembly because the cables were messed up.
Then the passenger side window quit. We took the motor off the old driver's side regulator and put it on the passenger side, and it started working.
If you are ambitious, I have read where some people have taken the motors apart, cleaned the internals with electrical cleaner, then put them back together and got them to work.
I think it is possible that sometimes the motors get a dead spot on the rotor pickup, like starter motors do, and jarring it causes it to move just enough to make contact again. I have had several starter motors that would do nothing, but when tapped with a hammer, would start as if nothing was ever wrong.
