I have a very stock drivetrain... M6... i'm looking to put DR's on very soon... I know this will put more strees on my rearend... my question is... who has blown their rears.... how hard is it to replace.... cost....
i guess what i'm really looking is for imput as to you experiance with our rears... and what kinda stress you put them through.. then i can figure out my odd's maybe of breaking mine along with the cost/risk factor to my wallet if it goes.
I have not had any problems with my rear as of yet. However, I do have a DTE rear differential strut....this is a must....A blown rear end will cost $2000-$3000 for replacement and installation.
I am also having a Lingenfelter hardened output shaft put in very soon as well...M6's output shafts, from what I have read, are notorious for breaking when running sticky tires even with close to stock HP. I wouldn't want to break the output shafts if I hook up well on the track.
From what I hear and from my experience, a bulletproof rear end (strut, shafts, etc) runs around $1000 for parts...probably less than 1/3 of the price you would pay if you broke the differential back there....there is alot of other information about this all over the forum too.
Get a DTE brace and short and long hardend shafts and tranny hardend main output shaft and get all of them cryo treated and it will be bullit proof. Oh and wheel hop is a killer to any rear end..

I have 450RWHP, Nitto 555 RII's and a heavy foot. It has wheel hopped like hell and still nothing has broke. It is cheap insurance.
