Does anyone know a link for how to port and shim an LS1 oil pump? I hear people talking about this all the time, but never seen instructions for how to do it. Please help!

Frankly, with the availabillity of the Melling oil pump for LS motors, I wouldn't bother. The Melling pump offers 15% more volume and 10 PSI more pressure right out of the box compared to a stock pump. If that's not enough then you can have it ported.
I'm putting in a LS4 pump which is suppose to have 30% more volume of flow. But if there is any other tricks, then why not why I have it on the bench.
What is it that they are porting? Where the pick up tube goes in? And I don't understand the shim? A .100"
Then do people shim the Z06 pumps, or just the LS1's pumps! The reason I asked is because I read somewhere that the only difference between the LS1 and the LS6 pumps is the pressure relief spring.
