Exhaust Mod!

Has anyone removed the stock mufflers on a 2001 & extended the pipes aft?
What does it sound like & is there any increase in performance?

I added the exhaust mod to the factory mufflers, like they sell in Mid America's catalog. I have a friend that owns a muffler shop, he just made them instead of me having to buy them out of the catalog, It doesnt sound like Corsa's or Borla's but for a total cost of 50 bucks, they sound awesome...

Ed F, Before you make the mod to the exhaust you might want to pull the cats.
It's pretty simple and I have a fella in Fort Lauderdale that will do it for you.

Can you eliminate the pre-cats without having to put in O2 sims? Are the main cats the only ones with the sensors? I am thinking about taking out the pre-cats and adding the exhaust mod. Anyone try the exhaust mod with something like Random Tech cats?

On 01+ cars (except 02 Z06)

ENGINE : BEFORECAT 02 SENSORS : PRECATS : MAIN CATS : AFTERCAT O2 SENSORS

BEFORECAT O2 SENSORS = Used for engine a/f calculations

AFTERCAT O2 SENSORS = Just used to monitor MAIN CATS operation.

O2 Sims go in AFTERCAT posisiton when removing MAIN CATS only so a code is not set.
