Default Header Gaskets Needed?

I recently purchased a set of Stainless Works headers from a fellow forum member. He said he had a problem with a flange leak until he removed the gaskets and used red hi-temp silicon with no gaskets. What has your experience been? Gaskets Yes - Gaskets No?
Thanks – David.

Use GM gaskets. If your old ones are in good shape, re-use them. If not, get OEM replacements.

Don't do it! Like said above use factory GM steel gaskets. You want to be sure to use the older round port gaskets, not the newer oval port ones. Not sure which ones the 2000 will have, but if you order gaskets for a 99 coupe you will get the correct round port gaskets.

Thank you! I wonder why this other guy had problems with the old gaskets? I have them and they have the round ports.
Thanks - David.
