You need tires, gears would help greatly and you need to practice a lot. Once you start cutting some stout 60' times then add a little power to get to your goal. You DO NOT need a big cam. 375 RWHP and good driving with some sticky tires should be more than enough.
A lot of seat time is definitely required.

Post said C5 and mine is a slow 01 Z06 so... I went 11.89 @ 118 with Vararam, LG Pro Long Tubes and BFG DRs on chrome Z Repos with a 1.83 60:o . Went to MT ET St radials (275 45 17 on OEM Z fronts) went 11.82 @ 117 with a 1.70 60.
I agree with face, good tires in an A4 and a SC, great tune and "You can do it" water boy quote.
