Stepped on the gas pedal really hard.
Mine is a 2001 A4 coupe. Vararam, LG Pro long Tube Headers, UD pulley, G5X3 cam, 3.73 gear, SS3600 T/C, and a good LS Edit tune. 11.62 at 119+mph, so far. Putting on heads, intake, and a ported throttle body in a few months. Hoping to get the stars aligned just right and pull off a 10 second pass. Good Luck with your mods. Bob
Are the heads ported? how much? What gears are you running? A4 or 6 speed? My suggestion would be, speak to your local tuner and let them know exactly what you are looking for from your car. They should be able to aim you in the right direction.
On my M6: Z06 clutch, Kumho MX's, hardened output shaft, a 150 wet shot and Vortex Rammer netted me 11.997 @ 123. I couldn't spray until halfway through first or I would go up in smoke. Tires are an important part of any complete breakfast...er sub 12 second quarter mile.
I haven't been to the track with the blower but I know I'm ~50-75 HP stronger now. I need a new clutch and DR's to really tell how deep into the 11's I am.
I did it with a K&N Filter and 100 shot on Nittos. Clutch won't hold long or at least mine only made about 10 runs on the spray. Headers, intake, 100 shot, Clutch, 3.90's got me mid 11's all day long with poor traction from the nittos.
To make it into the 11's it will depend on a few things.
If you are a auto then it will make it a little easier. Just get a big stall (torque converter) a cam and bolt ons and some dr's If you can put ont about 360 rwhp then you could be in the 11's
Now if you are a manual trans then it will get harder. You will need more ponies to get it done and more track time to increase your shifting time. You will need to get 400 + rwhp
I have seen many people that have more then enough HP but still could not break into the 11's there first time out or even 2nd or 3rd. (including me I finally made it with some good dr's)

Actually you have that reversed. If it's an automatic you will need more horsepower. 6 speed cars are quicker/faster than auto's. This is due to the drive train loss caused by the automatic transmission.

I know that it will loss more to the drive train but at the same time if you get a big stall you will make up for the less power with torque. At the same time it has been said that you will lose at least 2/10 per shift with a manual trans and after 3 shifts thats over a 1/2 secound. If you look around at alot of the big boys run you will see that they are all running auto trans. Now if you compare a stock to stock (with a stock torque converter) then yes the manual would be faster providing he knows how to really drive it.

I run an A4 for two reasons. First, I SUCK racing with a 6 speed. Second, the A4 is consistant. You will find that those of us drag racing run the auto trans for consistancy not speed. I guess it all equals out in the end.
