Hey guys, brand new here! My dad just bought a silver 01 targa-top with 13k on the clock. He's excited as hell, needless to say!

I'm going to start him off with the mods by buying him an exhaust. Poor guy's spent every free penny raising me and my brother, time to start paying back! Plus, that way he's hooked! I was thinking Bassani or Borla, what do you think? After that, i'd like to see him go with a Blackwing intake, SCT tuner, and some kind of upgrade in the auto tranny to firm up the shifts. Valve body or something. Any suggestions?

He lives near Akron, Ohio... any reputable tuners near-by?

I'd appreciate any advice/opinions from you all, trying to point him in the right direction with his first real sports car

Oh, and a little about myself. I'm 24, and in the Air Force. My daily driver is a black 2000 Lightning, modded to 396rwhp/497rwtq. I'll be looking into buying my own Corvette next year, after the truck is payed off (keeping it). I've seen some beautiful cars on this forum, you guys rock

P.S. I have some pics of the two side-by-side, how do i post them?

The Yak,

My to suggestions for you would be the Borla, Stingers or the Coras (Indy or Pace Car) Tiger Shark Exhaust. Make sure you go the extra step and get a good X-Pipe to go along with the exhaust.

I'm currently runnnig the Corsa Tiger Sharks on my 1999 C5 (Modified).

Nice to hear you want to do this for your Dad.

Nice thing that you are doing for your dad.

Regarding exhaust I think the best think to do is go to a local event and listen to different types. I have GHLs on my car and I think they are sweet, but every person is different.

He might like the Z06 exhaust which is a good sounding exhaust at a cheap price or he might want something more aggressive.

remember when you add headers it will increase the sound.

remember to tell your dad to wave....

Exhaust is very subjective and to some the drone associated with some aftermarket exhausts is very objectionable. Listen inside & outside at idle, cruise, & wot. Borlas are known to drone, Corsas less so. I'm probably at least your Dad's age and I like my Z06 Tis. As far as loud, you may get more attention than desired if you go too far. Tread lightly.

Welcome to the forum, nice gesture to your dad! Of course, you dont need to mod it too much because silver is the quickest color!

p.s.- I hear longtubes and Z06 titanium catback makes a great combo!

Thanks guys! I'll hook him up with something good, i appreciate the inputs. I've heard the Borla on a friend's 03, sounded great. Anyone running Bassani?
