I finally broke the 500 mile break-in and was able to get our convertible up to speed. It was getting dark so I decided to go out with the top up. It seems I have a common problem of wind noise from the drivers window (70 mph+). If I press my finger on the weather stripping where the top meets the windshield, I can make it stop. Unfortunately that gets uncomfortable after a few miles.
There is no way it's going to the dealer for this, but I did notice posts about the window tip-in adjustment. For those that have done this, what were your results (please feel free to elaborate with a reply)?
AMCALPINE,
Had the same problem with wind, but at the top rear of the window. Just used some 1/4 x 3/4 dark grey weather stripping and inserted it between the vert frame and the rubber seal. Worked pretty well, alot less noise. I'm still hearing a little so I may go to 1/2 x 3/4. But for a first attempt without messing with alignment or going to the dealer it worked pretty well.
Mine's been in once for this and it's going back to have it fixed completely. Originally the window would close on TOP of the top which made for (Captain Obvious here) a lot of wind noise. They fixed the top and adjusted the window, but it still whistles when I have the A/C on "fresh" or anytime I break 60 MPH. Hopefully they'll get it corrected this time.
