Default Tech Help - Code P1133 - O2 Sensor Questions

Hey Guys-

I just had a complete new clutch and flywheel installed by a reputable Corvette specialist. We went with the LS6 and LS7 combo purchased through Fred Beans. Since the install, the check engine light has been recurrently coming on. Manual check of the DIC keeps showing Code P1133, despite resetting a number of times. The installer had to drop the exhaust and TTS headers out of the way to do the clutch. Has anyone else had this problem after such an install? Do you think that the sensor is faulty, or possibly damaged from the header and exhaust removal? Thanks.

O2 sensors are fairly sensitive, and they are dependent upon a fresh supply of oxygen. If the wires were twisted during removal/re-install, they could have damaged the pathway for the fresh oxygen. This error essentially means the O2 is not switching from rich to lean (vice versa) over a period of time. If you have a scan tool, you should confirm whether the voltage is remaining too high/low. An exhaust leak can also cause this code to trip. Here are some detailed diagnostic steps.

Thanks, John.

Since, I don't have a scan tool or way to check for an exhaust leak, so I guess I'll have to make the drive back up to the installer.

If you're interested in getting a good scan tool at a bargain, EFILive has reduced the price on their scanner product. They're getting ready to release new v2 scanning and tuning hardware and are clearing out the v1 hardware.

Ive been having the same problems with that same code. It keeps coming back. Getting tired of crawling underneath and changing O2 sensors at $80 each, gets old after a while. If yall find out how to fix this problem let me know. 99hrdtp hello fellow South Carolinian!

Hey right back at you! Where did you order your O2 sensors from, anyway?

I had the same problem but on the other side.

Check and make sure your air tubes are not leaking. I put a second gasket on the air tube and stoped getting the code.

Hope this helps.

I bought mine from the local dealership. Im considering buying some Bosch from one of the forum vendors. Just to see if there is any differance. I changed both of my air tube gaskets and still getting it. I posted something similiar to this post and someone told me that it is the race fuel Ive been using. Which it did go out everytime I use it (it seems that way) but I only used that for the races in the Corvette Challenge. Well if anyone finds out the answer to all this please let us all know. Good luck everyone!!!!!!

Things like octane boosters and race gas not good for your O2 sensors.

99HRDTP, along that line of thought, what kind of collector gaskets did you use? Sometimes silicone stuff can foul them up too. I like the nice copper gaskets. The top collector bolts can be a bit of a pain, maybe you could have a bit of a leak there? One thing you could do would be to swap the sensors and see if the problem follows it.

Fuel contamination and RTV sealant in the vacinty are couple of things that will make junk out of an O2 sensor.

I don't know what they used, but I'll ask. Thanks again to all for the help.
