For those of you who do a LT header install yourself....if you have a pre-2001 car you'll need to remove your intake to swap out the AIR tube (what a PITA). However, you will note that there are electrical plugs AND a very small vacuum line plugged into the very back of the manifold. When we took mine off we didn't even notice the small black vacuum line. However once the car was back together and running, the AC would blow out the defrost, heater, and front vents at the same time...very annoying because it would barely cool the car...
I found the little black line and reached my RIGHT hand around to contort it and plug it in....it took a bit but in the end it solved the AC problem perfectly.
Just hoping to help you all save time and frusteration if you encounter similar issues.
LG uses the 2001+ air tube fitting/bung/connector on all of their headers and ships the 2001+ tube to replace your 1997-2000 tube. The passenger side AIR fitting was moved from the last cylinder (#7 or 8) to the one in front of it (#5 or 6) by GM in 2001. Thus the OEM air hose will be in the wrong location if you install the LG headers on a pre 2001 vehicle and don't swap the hose, make sense? Honestly, this was the most time consuming and annoying part of the whole header install. Removing the air intake, intake mainifold, injector harness, various hoses and plugs, etc is a pain. Not difficult....just annoying.
I'd say a longtube header install on a 2001+ car should take at least 2 hrs less than a pre 2001 car just because of the whole air tube situation.
Having same problem after Kooks install by shop.Cannot seem to find hose you mentioned. Is it behind driver side or passenger side of intake. Also is it 1/8", 1/4" or 3/8" size tube.My vert is a 99.
The tube is one of those VERY tiny black hard plastic vacuum lines..I want to say 1/8"....definitely not larger than that.
It's on the PASSENGER rear..you need to reach your hand past the valve cover/coil pack and around in back of the intake. you will feel the 90 deg rubber elbow with the hose disconnected from the bottom of it.....the hose on mine was about 1" toward the drivers side so I had to pull it back gently and try to plug it into the elbow. It can be done...just takes time and patience...you might need someone with a small hand like a wife/girlfriend or small child It's aweful hot back there so make sure to let the car cool for at least an hour...mine was still scalding me an hour later.
here's a few pics of the line, GM wraps into the engine harness
the elbow came off the plastic on my FRC, it slides back over the line
i'll pull the vac line out of the brake booster(large rubber hose, not the hvac line that Billdog mentioned) and feed it through the back of the intake during removal/install
