The ball joints are pressed in. A ball joint press is what you would need to get them out.

If you plan on replacing them, only the bottom ball joints are available. To replace the upper ball joint you would have to buy the entire spindle assemby. They run about $150 bucks for Fred Beans.

Default Availability and another question

Thanks for the info which leads to two more questions. 1) Do you know where the bottoms are available and 2) If I press the ball joints out of the knucle - they only have 17k on them - can I reuse the same ones again? ... that question also applys to the bottoms. Thanks Mark

The heat used in powder coating will weaken the aluminum parts. I highly advise you do not do this. I have powdercoated cast wheels in the past and had them crack after just one session on track. The lower control arms in particular take lots of side load when cornering. Also, pressing in new balljoints will open up the hole a bit and they may not be as strongly attached as the originals. It is best to get new arms with the balljoints installed if they need replacing.
