I made some straight pipes that look like Borlas. They connect to the two bolt flange on the mid pipe just like the Borlas. They are loud all the time and very loud when you get above 3000rpm.
i have them on my car i didnt think they were to loud with stock exhaust and cats but now that i have lt's and no cats i need to sell if your interested pm me
Hi, I have them and I installed them about a month ago. I couldn't tell you if they bolt right up to the stock pipes because I have aftermarket x-pipe. All I can really tell you is that they were very easy to install, took about 40 minutes not including jacking up the car. I prefer a little louder deeper sound and the Borla straight pipes really gave me what I was looking for. Here's a little video below.
I was going to get the straight pipes, but opted for the XR-1 system instead. I got it, installed it, and despite the fact that they say it's loud on every site, I still took the cats out. I've since added LT headers, and still no cats. I think it's all personal preference. I won't say my car's quiet, in the least, but I love how it sounds. If I want to take off in front of a cop, I just short-shift, and the car sounds like any other V8 with exhaust on it. If I lay into it, the gates of hell open up, cause all the XR-1 muffler is is two through-flow resonators.
If you like loud, get the straight pipes - they won't be loud until you get on it. If you want to be able to go WOT, and not attract a cop a block or two away, they probably aren't what you're looking for. And yes, they will drone. Again, I don't mind, but it's something you have to enjoy/get used to. I personally don't mind hearing my exhaust inside the car. It IS a sports car.
Ah, yes... to add to what Ikester said - straight pipes sound really airy, if you know what I mean. They don't sound clean, since there's nothing stopping the air turbulence. They almost make the car sound like an old chevy small block with an exhaust leak.
If you want the same noise, but less air-sound... (damn, that's hard to explain), get either the XR-1, or Magnaflow Magnapack. I heard it on a local vette, and it sounds just like mine, except it's alot less. They didn't have that when I got mine, or I would've gotten it.
