Default Add on trans cooler in parallel?

I am adding a B&M 70266 transmission cooler and i am toying with the idea of running it in parallel to the in radiator cooler by teeing the lines. I am thinking it would reduce flow restriction and slow the fluid through each. Any experience or thoughts on this.

Unless you drive it on a roadcourse, I would hook it up in series, trannyto radiator to cooler and return to tranny. Hooked up in this way the 70266 can handle the street or the strip, even with a high stall converter and the transmission will warm up quicker when cold.

If you don't mind the slower warmup, then bypass the radiator for even lower temps. If you plan on taking it on a roadcourse then you would probably need a bigger cooler, especially if you have a high stall converter cheers:

My tranny cooler is hooked up as a stand alone. Temps during normal driving here in South Florida stay at 153* When I drag race the temp climbs to 160* - 164*

Just for comparison I run a cooler in series here in Central Florida and I run 176 in normal driving conditions and 185-190 in heavy stop and go traffic.

It appears from the info above, hooking up the cooler as a "stand alone" would be the way to go. How do the majority of A4 people do this install? I'm curious, as I'm thinking of doing this install...

My cooler is B&M 70266 and is mounted to the lower left (if viewing by standing in front of car) of the radiator. All steel braided lines and russel fittings.

DragMan: What you are saying is running a trans cooler with the radiator is adding 30 degrees? I think there is a problem with that statement... The radiator should cool the fluid to a lower level based on the differential between the coolant and the trans fluid. Then the trans cooler would lower trans fluid temp based on conditions and cooler size. I am no expert but that seems to be the basics..
In your example the radiator would be ADDING heat? I could see this happening in a cold climate under mild driving conditions.

I run mine from the trans to the rad to the cooler to the trans. This way the oil temp comes up quicker before I hit the free way,
