a4 trans temp
as any one mounted a cooler in the rear. i want to mount where the mufflers were and use one with a fan....
ideas on fitting to trans,, can I get to them..I could go out and look, but you guys should know
It would be considerably cheaper to just mount it in front of the condenser, where you would not need a fan. You could then use the 70266(8x11x1½ $60). This cooler, mounted in front of the condenser, works well even with a high stall converter. Most route it through the radiator cooler first, then the B&M cooler and back to the transmission to help warm the fluid when cold but some bypass the radiator cooler entirely to drop temperatures even further.
If you decide to go with the front mount and through the radiator, here’s a list of parts you will need:
(1) B&M 80278 transmission cooler mounting kit (or similar)
(2) Aeroquip FCM2013 –6 AN to ½ NPT male adapter (cooler)
(1) Aeroquip FCM1022 –6 AN 45* swivel hose end (trans return line)
(2) Aeroquip FCM4032 –6 AN 90* swivel hose end (cooler)
(1) Aeroquip FCM4042 –6 AN 120* swivel hose end (radiator)
(2) Aeroquip FCM2108 –6 AN to 5/8 –18 inverted flare adapter (radiator & trans return line)
(1) Aeroquip FCA0606 –6 AN AQP racing hose, 6ft.
(1) GM # 442338 (or similar) 5/8 –18 inverted flare female union (trans return line)

B&M uses ½ NPT, female fittings on most of their coolers, others may be different.
GM used the 5/8 –18 inverted flare fittings, through at least 2000, maybe later, and then it was changed to quick disconnect fittings. DTE sells an adapter to change it to a male NPT, which is easily adapted to AN fittings.
GM# 442338 is available from any GM dealer.
You can get all of the B&M and Aeroquip parts from Summit Racing
Note: Summit puts a prefix in front of the number (AER-, BMM-)
