i tell ya boys... ive had a hell of a day... the car has been sitting for 2 months, battery is DEAD.. optima red top. charged it in the car and somthing was making the damn charger cut a flip, it would charge low, then high then low then high ( this is a manual charger ) took the charger off, unhooked battery charged for 3 hours on high out of car. charger did not fluctuate a lick. put battery in... NOTHING, just this high pitch buzzing from the pass. foot well ( that i have torn all to hell to look at this marvelous computer crap) well ok...whatever. so i bring my 2006 ford f-350 powerstroke to the car to jump it off, TWO batterys in diesel truck. car will not do ****, just BARELY turn over. now ..... w....t....f.... so i just hold the damn key, buzzing all to hell, clicking, pucking, and doing alot of unnessecary ****. car FINALLY CRANKS. REDUCED ENGINE POWER.reset codes 9 million times and FINALLY it let me drive her normal... omg... this was going to be a TREAT!!!! get the car slowly out to the driveway up the long driveway, taking it easy.... get out on my country road, rare back my foot with car in 1st getting ready to squawl that bitch!!!! this was to be a TREAT... but not today, for at the split moment before my fat foot hit the pedal.... but boys, ill tell ya what the kicker is in all this..... car will be sitting there running, puking, ****ting all over the road, idleing like it has 3 wires gone... and i can press the reset button on the dic and the car will come back to normal running, sound GOOD, run strong!, and....then.... BEEP BEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, i am so sick of hearing this beeping crap. i wish i could just hotwire the damn thing to RUN!!! not check 14,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 sensors to make sure that they are getting ready to break right on time. damn car is SOOOOO strong for 141000 miles that it KILLS me to see it like this. brought down by a hissing electrical crap. im like seriously getting ready to load it up in my friends plane, and drop the piece of **** on GM headquarters.
An Optima red top is a great battery as long as you don't allow it to go totally dead. Once you do, they are not good at holding a charge anymore. I think you might have to replace it with a new battery. If you have a different battery available, you might want to try installing it temporarily to see if the car will run any better. I have a feeling it will.
tps is the Throttle Position Sensor.
If the movement of the gas pedal is out of sync with the position of the butterfly valve on the throttle body the air/fuel mixture gets out of wac and the cumputer puts the car in a limp along mod.... "reduced power"
IT could be that the sensor at the gas pedal end has gone or possibly that something is obstructing the movement of the valve in the throttle body ( bad bushing or a velocity stack insert etc)
Recently, the car started have some electrical problems. Seats not working, strange codes on the DIC, sometimes it would run real bad.
On the way to the dealer, it got so bad it scared the %#*& out of me. The DIC was saying the tires were flat, engine losing power, etc. etc.
It turned out that the wiring harness in the drivers door had rubbed through and there was a short to ground. The service tech said that shorts or a loss of ground somewhere in the electrical system will make the car go nuts.
They replaced the harness and everything is fine. On the service sheets it said that they also reprogrammed a number of the car's control modules.
You may want to have them check for a short somewhere. The tell on my car was that everything associated with the drivers side control module was screwed up but it also impacted a lot of other functions in the car including the DIC and the way the engine ran. I check the fuses and relays and everything was fine but the dealer tracked it down in no time.
