Don't post much over in C5, but have a question that I was hoping I didn't need answered for a while longer. I have a H/C Z06, around 450rwhp and was running a Luk Pro Gold clutch and lightweight flywheel. Well, unfortunately, after 2200 street miles and only 6 qtr mile passes, it's slipping on a hard 3-4 shift(happened on my 6th pass en route to a F1 equipped 11.7@122, which I'm pretty pleased with considering).
Statement: I don't want this to happen again. Question: What clutch is good for a 450rwhp H/C car?!?!? I've read the archives, I've heard good things about Textralia, RAM, some positive and negative about Exeedy(sp?), but not a lot about McLeod. I know several who are running the McLeod in other super high hp applications, but didn't see any in the archives.
More specific question: Of the recommended manufacturers, which version do I get? I've been to all the websites and I don't see a power/torque rating associated with a particular clutch. Again, I don't want to make this change anytime soon. And with this clutch change, it's time to get serious. I'm thinking of going with the rear end/trans bracing and hardened output shafts for *hard* launches. I want the strongest clutch possible that is still liveable on the street. I don't want to deal with chatter, but I don't want this to slip, period. Any and all opinions are welcome. Thanks

I had a spec 3+ and it lasted all of 5000 mile and 1 day at the track (5 Passes) I switched over to a Cartek and have had no problems yet and have about 30 passes on the track and 10K miles. I am putting out about the same amount of rwhp as you (maybe a little more) and about 490 RWTQ and it been good. They say they are rated up to 750 Tq.
I have the RPS setup in mine for over 3600 miles and 5 passes at the track and lots of hard shifts past 6K and has held with my 700+ rwhp. This clutch is stiff at first and then is no issue to shift and only a little more gas on smooth take offs over the stocker. I got mine from A&A Corvettes
What clutches does Cartek Sell?!?!?! Any chatter? Thanks

I think there is only one for our cars . I have the centerforce steel flywheel and there is no chatter however i do notice it does make some noise (Sounds like a can with rocks in it)when the car is in neutral and clutch is not engaged. and i have heard this is pretty normal. A friend of mine has the same thing with his mc cloud dual disk.

I am about to order the Cartek set-up and was wondering what the cause of that noise is. I have read several accounts of this at LS1tech. Also, I wonder if an aluminum flywheel will be a good idea with this clutch.
I use the RAM 980 in all my road race applications. It has great launch capability and a smooth engagement and never a peddle on the floor.

Whatever Shirl says here, I would advise others to listen and take into serious consideration. He has extensive experience is this area. I'm not saying that the RAM 980 is the only thing out there, but I know that this man has been into clutch issues oh, maybe a couple times here on the forum.
