Default Need help with these 2 cams!! quick

Alright, my setup is a stock LS1 with the following:

Z06 MAF
Kooks 1 7/8" race headers
Comp 918's
Morel lifters
No emissions
duals out the back
30# Ford SVO injectors
25% UD pulley

My delima is between these two cams:

Frutal F11 cam

228/230 duration .577"/.595" lift on 114

or this Comp grind LS1/3404F cam:

232/236 duration .575"/.575" lift on 114 (+4)

I think that the 232/236 cam would be better suited for my setup and produce a good 15 rwhp more without loosing any drivablity. Any thoughts? I have to figure this out by tomorrow morning. thanks

Scott

I doubt if the difference is even 10 hp between the two cams, and then only above 6200.

Where are the intake center lines and what is the advance on the first cam? Based on the information at hand, I would go with the Comp.

My engine sim. puts both cams about equal until 3,500 rpm, from there, Alans cam is 6-10 Ft lb's ahead in TQ and 2-9 in h.p. Alans cam has about 2' overlap compared to 6' for the comp cam. Alans will drive and feel better on the street. That's with no advance ground into the Frutal cam.

In your case and mods, I think smaller is better.

I don't think you have enough comp. to run either of those cams to take advantage of their specs. With your stock comp., I would run a 224/228 xer 112+0, it beats both other cams until 5,800, and then is only down 5 h.p. If both other cams are available now, go with Alan, otherwise figure out your final mods and order a cam suited to those mods.

I'm using .040" gaskets as well. AFR 205's or a decent set of 243's will eventually make their way onto the car. I'll be shooting for a comp ratio of 10.8-11 to 1 when I put heads on it.

What kind of driveability are you looking for? Idle quality??

I'd kind of like a nice lopey idle and driveablity isn't really to much of a concern as it's not a daily driver. It is an LS1/T56 powered C4 vette. My car will weigh ~3000 lbs with me in it and full tank of gas.
