Kirk makes a bolt/weld in cage that is SCCA legal (T1 club racing) and is relatively easy to put in by any competent mechanic with a welder. 205 823 6025
I'm really suprised that you didn't drop the tanks before welding. I had my bar installed and they did not drop the tanks as required; ended up melting some tubing and both tanks had to be replaced. It was a nightmare.
I heliarced it and let it cool between welds. A lot easier then dropping the tanks. Any other type of welding could be a night mare as you indicated unless you drop the tanks.
The main concern is the vent line that runs through that brace.
