We finally got to beat on the car alittle today doing the final round of tuning. Initally we thought that the fuel was going to change due to weather but its actually very very close, close enough to be sensor error. I've been playing with the rev limiter and today I moved it up another 200 to 8000 and took a spin. The power is back so apparently the new pushrods did the trick. 1st gear goes by soo quick is not funny, 2nd has enough tire spin from a roll to make it semi-useless and 3rd is on the verge of hooking up. I rounded the bend and turned onto the main strip rolling in 2nd gear @ 35mph, stabbed the gas and got enough wheel spin I had to soft pedal the car, tach burried @ 7500, shifted to 3rd @ 7800. RPMs dropped from 7800 to about 6000 and the tires hooked initally and faded away. Hazing the tires in 3rd gear @ almost 100mph is scary. Ran the car out to ~7800 and shifted to 4th. This car is making more power than I ever though I needed. We're going to hookup with Jim Yates for a closed track rental in a week or so, I'm crossing my fingers.
I'll definitely post about the track rental. I've always loved the NHRA Pro stock class and I've got a chance to hang out with a sub 7 sec pro stocker.
what cam, heads and springs are you running?? did you just bump the rev limiter or dyno tune for 8000??
Normally above 6000 there can nasty valve float with stock springs which hurts performance.
The world challange vettes run to 7400 rpms or use too, rules makers just dropped that to 7100 rpms.
Heads: ET 240 11 degree
Cam: 254/260 .650 111 + 2
Springs: PSI 1224
With the right valve train a hyd setup can go to 8000, just need heads and an intake to handle it.

I've seen the springs on these heads. They make the 921's look wimpy.
