Wow....I know you're not trying to cause trouble, but I bet you get a strong slant twords the vette on this board.. So let me be the first to cast my opinion in favor of the Ybody. Other than looks, in my book, the first five things wrong with the viper are: 1) D, 2)O, 3)D, 4)G, 5)E ...
I stongly believe the vette is overall better engineered for all around driving, and I do bleed chevy orange, so go wild with the vette!!!
I am curious as to what LPE/ARE think of the durability of a 427 TT. That long stroke of the 427 would reduce durability vs a 346.
The SVSI TT viper is still vaporware. Hennessey has a working TT Viper that he co-developed with Dave Innall from Incon (who also co-developed the LPE TT C5 setup).
What times have you run with your LPE TT car? Most times I see for LPE TT cars are low 12s at high 120s due to poor driving. 120mph wheelspin is *very* dangerous if you aren't an incredible driver.
My Hennessey Viper was dangerous with me behind the wheel on street tires
Yes, I have the stage II. I have run 11.8@131 on stock runflat tires myself. I would like to try running with bigger tires, but the track officials would not be very happy to see me run again without a roll cage. :o
Can you elaborate why you think the 427 TT would not make be able to match the power of the TT V10?
I don't care for Vipers..BUT if I we're to have one.. it'd be an LPE Viper! Sheesh! All that power you have and you're looking for more! Who am I kidding... I nearly went with a 420 LPE motor and I've got 440 HP.. Never enough!!!!!!!
Go with the TT L P E...... You said you we're a satisfied customer. Be one again :D I am.
247 top speed in the TT Viper? WOW  That's got to be over 1000 hp. Ok, I'm sure you can do that with a Corvette too, but how crazy are you? (Back in around 1990 Callaway did it with the sledgehammer Vette at 250+ top speed. I believe they started with a racing block.) On street tires, you wouldn't be able to go to full throttle at anything less than, what? 120 mph? Freaking insane. I would love to read about your experiences, but I don't think I'd go for a ride with you if you didn't have 12 inch wide racing slicks on it at all four corners.
Well, I'd have to say go with the C5 because I don't FIT in the Vipers. :D
I'd have to agree that building ONE of something as a tricked out test vehicle is different than having built one for a customer who is actually going to live with the car. I agree that it DOES qualify as more than vapor ware but still isn't delivering product week after week.
Pardon me for asking...what about the Carroll Superchargers for the C5? Does a blower on a big cube motor get you up in the right range?
SlowC5.
Man you got some serious need for speed!!!
I’ll say go with C5 of course.
Looks like you’re gonna take care of power thing one way or another ;), but C5 is a much better car overall. Besides, you already have most of the setup. All you need is a motor upgrade (and maybe different turbo units)
I’d go with a ~400ci (a bit less stroke than 427) for TT. It will make more power & torque that street tires will ever handle
Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing. :yesnod:
I say save the TT Vette as your daily driver, and get one of these!.. No emissions tests to pass, lots of room for an out of control big block, super light weight, and of course, so damn cool!! :yesnod:
I used an ARE 385 in my last LS1 twin turbo project. IMO you don't need the extra stroke of the 422-427's. My 385 was capable of holding together at 1000HP, so it was just a factor of running more boost, tuning, and fuel delivery.
In forced induction a huge heavy rotating assembly isn't always the best approach nor is the additional stress of large stroke. Look at the power that the I6 3.0l Supra motors are making.
Actually if you wanted to build the ultimate twin turbo LS1 I would recommend destroking it to 5.0l with a fully forged rotating and built valvetrain. Wrap it out to 8k on 1.8-2.0 bar of boost and leave the TT V10 Viper in the dust. :D
The ARE 360 motor seems to be the most popular right now in the LS1 FI community. It has the stock stroke with a slightly larger bore and is good for 800HP and is available at a very competitive price. In fact ARE is also developing a C5 TT kit right now. IMO the kit will deliver as much or more performance than the LPE kits at a more reasonable and sane price level.
