Yesterday I swapped my coolant tank with a NIB replacement from Fred Beans. Immediately started getting low coolant messages. Reset all of the codes, but still getting. Double-checked the electrical connection, made sure the sensor is fully inserted, not bent, etc. Mixture is good, engine runs cool, circulates fine through heater, etc. I reused the original sensor, so I know it works. Is there another reset of this sensor that can be done? I was not getting it before I swapped tanks.
I don't think that this is the issue. I am not experiencing any heat issues. The surge tank was the only thing changed and I am getting flow between the radiator and surge tank. An air pocket normally causes no flow between the rad and st. The only indication of an issue is the low coolant alarm. Tonight I am going to remove the tank and inspect the electrical again.
I don't think this is your problem, but this old TSB covers a similar problem and identifies the correct installation height of the rear of the tank. If the rear is too high, the float may report a low coolant condition.
