When closing the doors with the windows down......the windows will rattle inside the door as if there is something loose or missing. I removed door panels and did not see anything broke, loose or apparent missing. When windows are up or partial up they do not rattle when closing the door. Is there some support inside the door worn excessive or missing?? The top of the window is not supported while in the down position........... The door trim at the top appears to be OK. Could the window being going too far down?? Is there a limit to the down side that is not correct?? Something is not correct here but just not sure what...........thanks..
I had this on my driver's side much worse than my passenger side. I'll try to explain as best as I can remember. The positive stop at the bottom toards the front of the door has a rubber hose that slips over a metal rod. The rubber piece had worked it's way up off the metal rod. I just had to push it back down and it cleared up the rattling when the window was down. This was months back so I am a little fuzzy on the details but you should be able to see what I'm talking about if you pull the door panel off.
Also, the rear tip in adjustment is often done incorrectly causing the nut that you adjust (behind the red reflector) to move rather than the nut on the back side. This can cause the adjusting rod to not be threaded into the nut at all and the rear tip in just hangs loose which causes quite a racket too.
In either case you will need to pull the door panel(s) off to take a look. Not too hard.
My rattle was from the glass resting on a rear pulley in the down position. The TSB refers to replacing the plastic, that the glass rests on and rattles, with a Velcro strip.
Directly under the pulley where the glass rattles, there is an access cover to gain access to the pulley. The access hole is covered with a piece of black plastic and the goop used as a sealer inside doors. I chose not to put off the access cover. My plans are to remove the door panel and add some single sided sponge like tape over the portion of the plastic where the glass is hitting. If I cannot place the tape from the top, I may have to remove the plastic to gain access to the pulley from inside the door.
The rattle that I am experiencing is from the glass hitting a plastic part that is part of the rear window pulley. My guess is most rattles are similar per the GM TSB!!

MY 97 rattled from the day I received it to the day I sold it 6 years later. Both doors only rattled when the window was up and the dealer could never find any reason why they rattled even though they had them apart 5 or 6 times.
Ok then, can someone explain to me what is tearing my tint at the same place on both windows? Upper left hand corner (near my head) on both windows? Insane.....

Refer to my explanation. Take your door cover off and you will see what I mean. Sounds like the rear pulley system for your window!! The area you described as hitting is where the pulley would hit the window causing the rattle.
