Default Intake question

I have a 2000 stock C5 and I would like to know if it would be ok if I upgrade to a LS2 intake? Are they a direct bolt replacement? Will I get anymore HP out of this by going to a LS2 intake.

Thanks in advance. You guys are great with questions like this.

i'm not sure what year the LS6 intake became standard... but i'd go with an LS6 before i'd go with an LS2.

LS6 intake became standard on all C5s at the start of the 2001 model year.

If you're only changing the intake manifold I doubt you's see/feel much of anything... Is that all you're going to do or is it a first step?

Someone else could chime in here, would there be any benefit? If you already have long tubes does the manifold only make any difference?

I'd go with the LS6 intake as well. However, you're not going to notice a difference with just that replacement. I would suggest the LS6 intake with an upgrade to your air induction (Halltech Stinger-R, Donaldson Blackwing, Vararam, Callaway Honker). A ported throttle body would also compliment those mods as it will improve throttle response. All of these, however, are still going to be restricted on the exhaust side. A nice set of long tube headers with hi-flow cats and aftermarket cat-back exhaust will really open up some power.

Good luck!

I replaced my intake with a LS6 and noticed a difference. I have a 2000 coupe with an A4. I've seen people here say that the LS6 is better than the LS2 intake, not sure why or if its true. but, I'm glad I put on the LS6 intake

The LS2 isn't a direct bolt on, you need a new fuel rail, throttle body, throttle body harness, and possibly other parts.

The LS2 intake design seems to show little improvement over the LS6, even with the 90 mm tb.

Street Thunder magazine did some great intake testing on a cammed LS1. The LS2 W/90 mm TB only gained 6-7 fwhp over the LS6 W/ stock 75 mm tb in the high rpm range (over 5600). In the mid range it actually lost 5-6 hp to the LS6.

Check out the article. Hope this helps.
