Default not a good idea

so i get the great idea to save some money and just remove the exhaust for the sound and performance sounded great and the power was noticable. so the car just decided to stop running want crank thinking its the fuel pump because i just got gas, call the wrecker takes it to the local corvette shop and the fuel lines are melted, they dont know where to get feul lines never had to replace them before cost est. 1000$ or so. could have bought used exhaust and air intake with money left over so im pretty much screwed and once agian bank acount will be empty

Welcome to the forum! There is a lot of people here to answer questions that knows a lot about C5's. Next time post a question about what you plan on doing and you will get a lot of responses telling you the good and bad. I'm sure everyone would have said don't do that! Wow, there is a lot of stuff back there you don't want to be blowing hot exhaust on, like the fuel tanks! And as you found out the fuel lines! Also your axle boots are right there. Good luck with the repairs. You might check with a salvage yard for parts. Hope it is cheaper than they think. If you want to make noisy put on straight pipes or do this:

i have this except mines a lil different, i had them cut the mufflers off right after the axle where the piping points downward so that the exhaust heat wouldnt hit anything, cost 10 bucks to the guy to cut them, sounds great!
