Wierd starting problem
It started out with having a couple second delay between the key being turned and the starter kicking in.
Today everytime I have gone to start the car after parking it, it won't start.
What's really strange is the rear hatch won't pop either. Doesn't matter if I use the key fob, or the dash switch...
I know the battery is good, when it cranks is start right up. I can hear the fuel pump kick on, but no click from the passenger side, or turn of the starter.
If I disconnect the ground from the battery, reconnect it, the car starts right up, and the hatch will open.
I haven't tried the second key yet, but I am having doubts that it will fix it.
Added: I don't think it is the clutch switch, but I guess I'm not 100% sure....
Any ideas why it won't start, but if I disconnect and reconnect the ground it works fine?
Good luck.
Dave
I tried the second key, no dice. I will look into codes as well.
The one thing I did different was I washed the car while I had the back end up on ramps. Maybe water got in a bad spot.
Can anyone elaborate on what is disabled if the securtity system doesn't read the key resistor?
I just got back from vacation and decided to dig back into this problem.
After doing some searches, I found a post about the BCM getting wet and causing wierd problems. I checked the passenger footwell, felt and looked dry. Pulled the BCM, also looked and felt dry. I ran a hair dryer on it for a few minutes just in case.
Plugged it back in, started fine. Shut if off, waited 15 minutes, same problem rear hatch won't pop, and car won't start.
I pulled all the codes and got the following.
BCM NO COMM.
SDM U1000 H C Loss of Communication Undetermined -RFA
U1064 H C Loss of Communications with DCM
IPC U1176 H C Loss of Communications with RFA
U1160 H C Loss of Communications with LDCM
RADIO U1096 H Loss of Communications with IPC (No State of Health Message)
HVAC NO COMM.
LDCM U1064 H Loss of Communications with DCM
RDCM U1064 H Loss of Communications with DCM
Anyone have any ideas?
