I currently have a Vararam on my C5 and had outstanding results with it. My car is going through the 1/4 much faster than my dyno would indicate, and I credit the Vararam for that extra oomph. No complaints here on performance!!
However, I am beginning to think about auto-x/road racing and the Vararam is using the front openings that are used to cool the engine and brakes. So now I'm thinking the TRAP would be a better choice.
I haven't had any luck with a forum search. I'm not worried about which intake is better than the other; I want to know what opinions people have if the Halltech TRAP + Tunnel Port can EQUAL the Vararam in performance. Also, if the TRAP was still available would the drag racers choose it as an equal to the Vararam?
your engine get plenty of air, u dont need to remove the fog light shrouds....
If you want a lot of air.... then take the RADIATOR SHROUD OUT or CUT A BIG square hole in it.... then take the rubber strip OFF at the end of the hood so the air can exit your engine bay.
I drive my 02 Vette come rain or shine and living on the coast sometimes I am forced to drive through some puddles (nothing too deep i.e.1-3"). Anyone have or heard of any bad experiancs with VeraRam when it comes to driving in the rain?
If you're using or plan to use headers, then the TRAP with tunnel port is a better choice, as long as you keep the fog light area open and install Z06 screens. Blocking the fog light area and raising the engine bay temps is bound to result in premature failure of rubber and plastic components.
I have had the TRAP for 2 years .... it was my first mod. I have the fog shrowd cut an screens placed. I don't have the Tunnel Port cause I prefer my SS Letters up front. You get plenty of COLD AIR rushing right in and around the Warhead filter.
I track my car and agree with Dave that the Vararam would seem to prevent some air flow to engine.
