Hello, I posted a forum the other day about my A/C light flashes when I turn it on. Compressor will not turn on. I spoke to the orig owner of the car, he states he replaced the compressor last year with a rebuilt .
Do you think this rebuilt when bad already? Will the light flash if it does?
I found new ones on Ebay for 320.00, what do you think? I'm getting ready to leave town for 3 weeks and I know this will drive me crazy
The light flashes when the system is low on R134a....
The question is why after a replacement compressor a year ago is it low??
Do you know if they put fluourescent dye in it when they changed out the compressor? If they did it should help you id the source of the leak.
Hello, I just opened the freon cap and I can see that someone used the
fluourescent dye at one time, its under the cap. I checked all the lines and see none. Does it stay in the system. I know nothing about A/C systems.
Yes the freon (R134a) should stay in the system. If there are no visible leaks and only some dye under the cap, perhaps the fill valve is the source of your leak or perhaps it is just slightly low. Because of car vibrations, automotive sytems can develop leaks at connection points.I would take it to a local garage that advertises that they service air conditioners and ask them to test the system. If you bought it locally ask the buyer where he had it replaced....
Okay spent 8 hrs at a A/C repair shop. Hard wired compressor blows icecold so thats not it. Put the dye in no leaks. Ran a complete computer check no codes, with one of those 4K computers. Put a new high pressure sensor in and still no A/C. There is no power from the fuse box on. They jumped the system from the fuse box. I just drove the car home because I'm going away for almost 3weeks. Just wondering can it be the headunit or maybe even the computer. My steering locked up the same day, which is fixed now. Can it be related.
It's on the pass side just to the left of the coolent res. on the A/C rail. It's a plug n play because it has a shraeder valve, you dont have to depressurize the system to change it. Good luck with this mess. I hope it works for you, I struggled with a solution for a year with the stupid blinking light. Just for the hell of it change out the #34 micro relay too.
Thanks for the help, but I did change that sensor with a new chevy one and I did change change relay#34. I thought there might be another one some place. ?????????
OK, i didnt realize that because in your post you said they changed the high pressure sensor. If you changed the low pressure sensor, then it might be the PCM. Then I'm done. Good luck and let me know.
Yes it is.Did you fix your A/C yet? I'm having the same problem,When you push the A/C button, It just blinks and goes out and no A/C...............................Paul
No, it is still not working. I had it at a A/C repair shop for 8 hrs, they could not find the problem. No freon leaks, compressor is okay, changed the high pressure sensor. temp sensor is working. All of these things will cause the light to flash, I hope yours is a easy fix. I quess I'm going to have to bring mine to Chevy.
swap out the a/c control head unit, if you were local I'd swap in a spare to eliminate that option
What exactly is the a/c control head unit? Is it the part in the dash with the buttons and display? Do you have an extra one to sell? I'm not that far from you.I have the dual zone a/c & heat..............................Paul
Hello, the control head is the A/C control in the dash, no I don't have a extra one forsale, I would have to purchase one. My vette also has the
dual zone a/c & heat.
