Default Help with mods please

Hi all:
My name is Mike, I just aquired a 99 C5 Automatic that is bone stock, and would like to start doing some mods. I'd like to do the exhaust first. Can anyone recommend a good set of bolt on headers(no welding) that won't scrape and a good cat back system that will not emit that "drone" at cruise rpm? Also, has anyone had any experience with SLP 1.85 rockers? Are they worth it?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I advise you to get real longtubes in stainless steel. Either LG, or Dynatech, and either the offroad X pipe, or the system with high-flow cats. About the best flowing, and still non droning catback is the ZO6 Ti. It's a bit louder than the stock 'Vette cb, but not excessive.

check my sig. My Corsa's are a little loud tho, but there is no drone or other annoyance.

Thanks to zeevette and bennettrp. Bennettrp, I'm from Hoffman Estates. Did you do your own tuning, or have it done locally?

I just did Corsa Indy's....

American Racing (l/t) headers, x pipe w/ hi flow cats.... But you should also look at getting a CAI (Cold Air Intake) installed too. Either a Callaway or Vararam should do the trick just fine.

DOn't forget the tune...... Good luck

You are going to get alot of header responses si here is mine. Melrose LT's with Random Cats and X-pipe did wonders for my car.

I myself would skip the 1.85 rockers. If you do a cam swap later down the road most of the cams suggest that you not use this ratio due to faast ramp rates of the XER lobes. Instead of the rockers I would buy a used LS6 intake (I got my from the Parts section for 350) and install it with the headers. These two above items really added alot to my car. I have run a best of 12.20@115 with LT's and LS6 intake, given I do have a MN6 which helps some.

Good luck and post results.

I've got the Dynatech system and Z06 mufflers. They are quiet on the road and at idle but get pretty loud when you get on the gas.

I'd probably do Dynatech or LGM headers with a Z06 Ti exhaust.

Skip the rockers.

Congrats on the new Vette.

I would use any of these headers...

LG motorsports, Kooks,TSP, OR American Racing

if emissions is not a big deal where you are you could get an off road x and save a buch of money if not get hi flow cats and an x pipe to accomodate them, I personally dont like the ZO6 TI exhaust, I had it and it was just too quiet... Although now I have SLP loud mouth and that is just too loud with lots of drone, I strongly reccomend either the Borla stingers OR Corsa pace car
