Default RFA Receiver

Where is this thing located on a 2000 FRC. I've lost key fobs and the tire pressure sensors - all four tires do not have a pressure. I'm also concerned that this might be BCM related, we had a pretty good rain storm the other day and I got some water in the foot well area. But before I go throught that I thought that I'd look at the RFA first. Service manuals are on the way, but I don't have any reference material yet and I like to try and fix this now.

Thanks,

Mark.

The RFA is on the drivers side in the area where the speaker enclosure is. It's mounted next to the fuel filler pipe. You will need to remove the plastic covers on that side. For you to loose the TPS, sounds like you blew a fuse. Yes the BCM interfaces with the FOB and the TPS. What DTC codes do you have??

This is the absolute best C5 Code web site!!!

http://www.corvettedoctor.com/Code_Main.html
http://www.corvettedoctor.com/index.html

Go to “technical data base” and then to “Corvette ECM Computer Codes”. Then select your year car. Read the instructions and then scroll down to the "READ MORE" window to view the code definitions.

The codes will tell me a lot! If you have a ton of codes,,,clear them and see what codes are current!

If you have a BCM problem,,,your going to get a lot of NO COMMS.

Where is the water comming in at. There should NOT be any leaks!!!! I STRONGLY recommend removing the carpet and drying it out. While it is out,,,find the leak path. im good at that. If you dont dry it out, you will start to have LOTs of electrical problems starting with the BCM! Been there had that! FRC's have some unique leake paths! I solved all of mine already!

Let me know what you find and how I can help!

Bill

Default Leaks

Bill,

Thanks I'm going to do exactly that this weekend. I already found a sticky that I believe you created and I'm going to use those recommendations. I'll let you know sometime Saturday what happens. I had leaks on both the driver and passenger side footwells. The driver's side seemed to be much worse. It looked like it was coming in from somewhere near the front of the door jam, down the speaker and onto the floor, but I'll check more this weekend.

Thanks so much.

Bill is right as far as location.
On the FRCs you only have to remove the small plastic fascia trim piece that snaps in place. (It's directly under the trunk hinge area, inside the trunk). There is a matching trim piece on the pass. side.
Once popped out you can see the receiver up under the lip of the fender. It's not necessary to remove the larger trim panel that incorporates the speaker grill.
HTH,
Robert

Default Here are the codes

All are "History" codes with the exception of the C2120 Code in the RFA Module:

BO-RFA
U1096 H
U1064 H
U1016 H
C2105 H
C2120 H

A1 RDCM
B2283 H
B2285 H
U1255 H
U1064 H
U1016 H
U1096 H

A0-LDCM
B2282 H
B2284 H
B1255 H
U1064 H
U1016 H
U1096 H

58-SDM
U1000 H
U1016 H
U1096 H

40 - BCM
B2583 H
B2587 H
B2952 H

Since I now have these recorded would it be more helpfull to clear them and see which codes return. I can't even find the C2120 code from the RFA which is the only current code.

Thanks for looking guys.

Mark.

Thanks, that makes sense even though yesterday the TPM System started working again magically. Still wouldn't program the key fob's though, and I just replaced the battery in the fob.

Default Update

Cleared the codes drove the car and no codes are returning. TPM system is still working but I can't get the key fobs to work. I do want to pull the carpet and find the leak paths, but right now I don't see how to remove the plastic trim pieces, so far I don't see any screws.

Default More Progress

Figured out the plastic trim pieces - basically everything just clips in, hardly a screw or nut used. So far very clean under there, no evidence of water, sure was the other day though. At any rate once I get it all pulled I'm going to try and find the leaks with a hose.

Default Final Update

Pulled the complete interior, RFA and BCM, and inspected all electrical connections for signs of water damage - everything looked perfect. Used a hose to attempt to re-create the leak and couldn't cause it to happen again. Put everything back, the TPM System still worked, but I couldn't get the remote keys to program. I bought another key fob battery at Wal-Mart and Voilla, it worked. So far so good.

We had some very heavy rains earlier this year and my passenger side footwell area got soaked in my 2004. The dealer said this is a common problem with water coming up somehow. The warranty took care of it and sad to say I didn't ask how they fixed it. I'm assuming they caulked underneath the car somehow. I'm making some ramps this weekend and might be able to report more later.
