Got a check engine light while driving this morning. Never got a "check guages" indication on the HUD or DIC. Pulled over and checked all of the readings and all were fine so I removed the gas cap and put it back on.
When I got hime I checked for codes and none were current so I cleared them all and the check engine light went out.
Was your gas cap loose when you checked it? Did it go on tight or loosey-goosey? I had this happen to me and when I checked the gas cap it was no longer tight. I realized that when I put it on it didn't seem to have a much resistance when tightening it as it used to. The dealership replaced it and all it well again...until the next time!
Keep checking for codes and post them as you find them.
Do you have an aftermarket cold air intake or have you recently put one on? I have had the same thing happen and others have had it happen as well when they put on their new air intake.
