What is the correct unit for my C5? What price should I be paying? Who should I get it from? I believe the local Pep Boys carries them for around $119 + $7 exchange.
I installed a Optima Red Top in my 1999 that I an transferring over to my new Z06. The Red Top will do you just fine and is a very dependable battery. I would also suggest (if you don't use your C5 much) a Battery Buddy or similair product to maintain the Optima or any battery during periods of non charging.
I got the Yellow Top from LAPD in the Forum mall. The Yellow Top is a bit more expensive than the Red Top, but it is a deep cycle battery, which makes it better able to handle being discharged and recharged repeatedly.
Bruce, I Emailed Optima with the same question, I have a 02 on order. They replied a red top model 34/78 . They said the yellw top is intended for marine applications and that the red top will take more recharges due to long storage than a regular batery.
